The original collection comprises 16 specimens from southern Tuscany, which represent the main ornamental stones (marbles as commodities) used inside and on the facade of Siena’s cathedral.
This very old collection (1871) was a donation, as are most of the collections in the Natural History Museum of the Accademia dei Fisiocritici.
